About Verbier
Verbier
is one of the world’s top resorts and has something to offer everyone
from non-skier to off piste expert skiers and snowboarders.
With the very strong pound Verbier is now very
inexpensive, save money and buy in Switzerland, you will be
amazed.
Access to Verbier is very quick via Easyjet
or Swissair with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, (any day) or
Crossair to Sion with transfer of 45 minutes (Saturdays only). By road
with a ferry or tunnel crossing (530 miles from Calais). Rail (by train to
Paris, Paris to Martigny and taxi to Verbier).
On arrival in resort you are initially hit
with the alpine charm Verbier has retained. Chalet and hotels are of
traditional architectural style set against snow-covered meadows and
pine-woods. Looking around the south-facing valley you are treated to
wonderful views of high mountain peaks that form a breathtaking backdrop
to Verbier.
At an altitude of 1500m we have a superb
snow record enabling you to ski back to the chalets or village for most of
the season. The clever use of snow making machines has prolonged the snow
life on all access paths.
The skiing is second to none with over
400km of groomed piste and nearly double off piste. There is challenging
and rewarding skiing at all levels. Perhaps this why Verbier has been the
serious skier’s favourite resort for years.
Verbier has met the challenge for
Snowboarders, providing them with snowboard parks, big air jumps, half
pipes, and boarder cross courses to test their skill, agility and daring.
All this as well as great riding on and off piste.
Contrary to many so-called experts, Verbier
is an excellent place to learn to ski or improve your skills. Maison du
Sport can offer everything from total beginners lessons to Heliskiing,
snowboarding to carving lessons and the new popular snowblading, (the kids
love it) All levels and ages are catered for and the instructors speak
English.
After
a day’s excitement on the piste, ski back to the resort and take tea on
the balcony, enjoying the afternoon sun, admiring the fantastic scenery
and reliving the days hair-raising experiences.
The Apres-Ski takes a lot of beating,
offering something for every style, pocket and age. Apres starts early
calling at ‘Offshore’ or ‘Fer a Cheval’ for the first beer of the
evening. Place Central is the next port of call to enjoy the live band in
the Farinet and get into the party mood.
Verbier offers exciting shopping
opportunities. With the strong pound, clothes and equipment are very
competitively priced and in many cases much cheaper than the UK
If you have enough energy left after a days
skiing and a 3 course dinner at the chalet you can sample some of
Verbier’s famous night life starting at the ‘Pub Mont’, or if you
are younger ‘Big Ben’, drifting onto many of the other bars around
town with a final burst at one our night clubs ‘Marshals’, ‘Tara’
or the famous ‘Farm Club’ where you can party until 4.0 am.
Or if you prefer you can just relax in the
chalet with some drinks and music.
Non
Skiers are extremely well catered for as they can travel all over the
mountains on the lift system, enabling them to reach some spectacular
destinations, for instance Mont Fort, the highest point in the area where
you can see the top of Europe, or meet up with your party for lunch in one
of the many restaurants.
The alpine scenery is stunning and the area has many beautiful walks. Or,
you can travel by bus or the efficient Swiss railway across the mountains
to Chamonix for an unforgettable day trip.
There are lots of beautiful walks around the area or you can go by bus and
train on the very efficient Swiss railways over the mountains to Chamonix
in France an excellent day trip. Taking in the stunning alpine scenery an
unforgettable journey.
Within the village you can visit the Sports
Centre for Ice-Skating, Squash, Swimming, Jacuzzi or Sauna, you really
don’t have time to go skiing!
The sheer size and beauty of Verbier
makes this a resort you will wish to visit time and time again
